Flowers for Happiness Campaign
The Flowers for Happiness Campaign was started in 2012 with the purpose of showing support to and celebrating women who are experiencing hardships in their lives. Every International Women’s Day, YTS members hand make flowers and donate them to various women’s shelters in the Lower Mainland like Surrey Women’s Centre, Battered Women’s Support Services, and more. Up to date, YTS has made a total of 2300 flowers.
We are currently preparing for our 9th Annual Flowers for Happiness Campaign. We will be making hand-made flowers on February 16, 2020 at SFU Surrey from 12:00PM to 6:00PM. Please email us if you would like to volunteer.
Let’s Talk Volunteering
Initiated in 2016, Let’s Talk Volunteering is an event meant to inspire students to spring into action.Speakers from various fields come together to bring this event to life. Each of the speakers outline their journey to success and the role community involvement has played in helping them get there. This event and the speaker’s journeys will help students see the long term impacts and benefits volunteering can bring to their lives and to their community.
This year’s LTV has been transitioned online due to COVID-19. Our team will be periodically releasing videos on IG TV in which they ask questions to speakers who are heavily involved in the community. Episode 1 is out now, watch as our team speaks to Rochelle Prasad here.

Food Drive
The YTS annual Food Drive is meant to collect non-perishable food items that can be donated to the Surrey Food Bank. Our community is very generous in donating food during the holidays but we tend to forget during other times of the year which is why we decided to hold this fundraiser during the summer months. Our team has donated 9159 lbs of food and a little over $240 till date.
For this year’s Food Drive we ask that people who would like to donate, contact us at (604) 787-5711 via text or call.
Sustainability Month
Sustainability month was initiated in July 2019. We dedicated this month to raise awareness about environmental issues in our community and to help improve our environment. Our team participated in Adopt-A-Street clean ups, beach cleans ups and marking storm drains.

School Supply Drive
Our annual School Supply Drive is back once again! We will be collection new school supply donations and raising funds to provide support and much needed essential school supplies to students from low-income families. YTS has officially partnered with Surrey Schools again this year, and all of the donations from our contactless pick-ups, as well as all funds raised online will be distributed directly to the students in the Surrey Schools District!
To donate, please visit our GoFundMe at https://gf.me/u/ysfzj9 or refer to our poster for ways to arrange contactless pick-ups for your donations!
Join us as we help provide school supplies for the young students of our community, so that they have the necessary tools to thrive in school! We are counting on your support!!
The School Supply Drive was initiated in 2015 in support of families in the Lower Mainland who cannot equip their children with the tools they need for success in school. We understand the importance of education and have this event to ensure all children have an equal chance at progressing in academics. For this event, we accept cash and school supply donations and all proceeds are donated to the Salvation Army for their Annual School Supply and Backpack Drive. Till date, we have collected 4224 school supply donations.

Volunteering and Beyond
Volunteering and Beyond is a volunteer and awareness night for high school and university students in the Lower Mainland. We host this event at various high schools every year. We bring numerous organizations under one roof to allow students to interact with representatives to gain more information about the organizations and sign up for volunteer opportunities. No matter where your interests lie, we guarantee you will find an organization that is right for you!
This year, YTS will be hosting our 6th Annual Volunteering and Beyond, stay tuned for details!

Holiday Breakfast
Every December, YTS organizes a Holiday Breakfast in partnership with the Salvation Army. We cook and serve a full breakfast, complete with pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, muffins, and more for almost 300 homeless individuals in Surrey. In total, YTS has served 1800 total hot breakfasts.
